Basics of electromagnetism, Maxwell equations, solid state physics

Content:
Introduction to the electromagnetic spectrum
Basic processes of absorption and fluorescence
Scattering of soft X-rays, Thomson, Rayleigh scattering
Wave equation, complex index of refraction, interfaces
Optics for soft X-rays: grazing incidence, multilayers, diffractive  optics
Sources for soft X-rays : Synchrotron Radiation, hot dense plasma, X-ray laser, High Harmonics
Basics of the Free Electron Laser (FEL)
Coherence at short wavelength
Applications :
Soft X-ray microscopy
EUV Lithography
Photoemission Microscopy
Experiments with attosecond soft X-ray pulses
