General information

The lecture is devided into a physics and a mathematics part. The physics part of the lecture is given by Prof. Dr. H. Ruhl and the mathematics part by Dr. D. A. Deckert.

  • QED: Its state and its problems
  • The electrodynamic vacuum
  • Missing equations of motion in QED
  • The origin of UV and IR divergences
  • The classical Maxwell-Lorentz system
  • Radiation reaction and the Landau-Lifshitz equation
  • The time evolution of external field QED
  • Vacuum polarization


ECTS credit points can be collected by attending the lecture courses and by passing an oral exam.
