  • If not stated otherwise, the seminar takes place on Tuesdays, 10:15 - 12:00, in room A450, Theresienstr. 37.

  • During the course of the semester we will present prominent models of equilibrium and nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. We will introduce analytic techniques to solve these models (if possible) and methods to numerically simulate them.

  • The first part of the seminar will be held in the form of lecture-like presentations. Prerequisites: Statistical Mechanics (required), Advanced Statistical Mechanics (recommended), Stochastic Processes for Physicists (recommended).

  • At the end of the semester, students can earn 3 ECTS credit points by giving a presentation on their own. These presentations shall focus on specific aspects of the models discussed in the first part of the seminar or on supplementary material. Project topics can be found here.
