TVI/TMP-TA1: Theoretical Solid State Physics – Overview



Lectures: Tuesdays 12:00 - 14:00 in room A348

Prerequisites: Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics

The aim of this course is to learn about basic theoretical concepts and phenomena in solid state systems

Course outline (tentative):

  1. Crystal structure and phonons
  2. Band theory of electrons in solids
  3. Electron transport and the Boltzmann equation
  4. Linear response theory, dielectric properties of solids
  5. Superconductivity
